From BioLinux
Welcome to BioLinux!
Want more info? Come and see BioLinux at ISMB 2007
BioLinux is a repository of easy-to-install RPM packages for widely used bio-informatics tools. As such, scientists do not have to deal with the intricacies of installing and configuring these tools. They can download the RPMs, install them with a single command (rpm --install) and start using them right away.
BioLinux does not aim to become Yet Another Linux Distribution, but to provide add-on RPM packages for existing Linux distributions. RPMs can be installed on the widespread and popular distributions Fedora Core, Red Hat and Suse.
BioLinux.org already has a large user community. Through this new wiki site and rpm deposit system a bigger interactivity between the users and the developers can be established.
RPMs can be uploaded via anonyous ftp on ftp://rpm.biolinux.org. Just deposit all your RPM files and a text file with the specifics, i.e. program, version, author, distro, description,... and we'll do the rest.
